Arkansas State coach Butch Jones isn’t circling a date on the calendar for naming his starting quarterback.

It could happen soon. It could stretch deeper into fall camp. Jones joked that the competition might even last through pregame warmups.

For a position carrying so much attention entering the 2026 season, Jones isn’t interested in forcing an answer before one presents itself.

“You never put a timeline on it,” Jones said. “It has to organically and naturally happen.”
