Red Wolves Return Home to Face Coastal Carolina in Key Sun Belt Matchup
Arkansas State returns home Wednesday night looking to keep pace atop the Sun Belt standings as the Red Wolves host Coastal Carolina inside First National Bank Arena.
A-State enters the matchup at 19-4 overall and 10-1 in conference play, riding a five-game winning streak and coming off a road win at Georgia State in front of more than 6,700 fans. Under fourth-year head coach Destinee Rogers, the Red Wolves have turned Jonesboro into one of the toughest stops in the league, posting a 10-1 home record this season and winning seven straight at home since opening night.
Coastal Carolina comes in at 11-12 overall and 4-7 in Sun Belt play, looking to bounce back after a recent loss to Troy. Despite their record, the Chanticleers have been competitive throughout league play and remain dangerous behind guard Kristin Williams, who leads CCU in scoring (14.0 ppg) and three-pointers made per game.
Arkansas State’s identity remains clear: pace, pressure, and perimeter shooting. The Red Wolves rank among the national leaders in three-point attempts and makes, while also sitting near the top of Division I in steals and turnovers forced. A-State averages 78.5 points per game and forces nearly 28 turnovers per contest, creating extra possessions that have fueled several lopsided conference wins.
Senior Zyion Shannon leads the Red Wolves at 13.3 points per game, while Crislyn Rose continues to orchestrate the offense, averaging 4.3 assists and coming off another strong all-around performance in Atlanta. Inside, Wynter Rogers anchors the glass, pacing the team at 6.7 rebounds per game, while Yves Cox provides rim protection and efficient scoring around the basket.
The series between Arkansas State and Coastal Carolina has been evenly matched since the Chanticleers joined the Sun Belt, tied 6-6 all-time. However, the Red Wolves have dominated the matchup in Jonesboro, owning a 4-1 home record and winning the last four meetings at First National Bank Arena. Coastal Carolina did take the most recent meeting in 2025, handing A-State one of its three conference losses last season.
With the Sun Belt race tightening and February looming large, Wednesday’s contest presents another opportunity for Arkansas State to protect home court and continue its push toward the top of the standings.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+ and the EAB Red Wolves Sports Network.
