New Orleans Safety Prentice Mackyeon Jr. Commits to Arkansas State

Arkansas State has added another defensive prospect to its 2027 recruiting class with a commitment from Prentice “PJ” Mackyeon Jr., a versatile safety and linebacker from the New Orleans area.

Mackyeon plays for John Curtis Christian School in River Ridge, Louisiana, one of the state’s most established high school football programs.

Listed at approximately 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Mackyeon projects as a safety for the Red Wolves but has also demonstrated the size and physical style needed to play closer to the line of scrimmage.

His versatility gives Arkansas State several possibilities within its defensive system.
