Mike Silva inherited an Arkansas State baseball program in need of new energy, stronger recruiting and a clearer path toward becoming competitive in one of the nation’s deepest college baseball conferences.

Two seasons later, the Red Wolves have produced more victories, returned to postseason play, defeated nationally ranked opponents and generated enough momentum for the university to make a significant investment in the program’s facilities.

Arkansas State has not completed its climb under Silva. The Red Wolves missed the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in 2026 after finishing one league victory behind the final qualifier.

The broader direction of the program, however, has changed considerably since Silva was hired as Arkansas State’s sixth head baseball coach in June 2024.

Silva has compiled a 55-52 record through his first two seasons, including a 29-24 finish in 2026. His first team won 26 games and returned Arkansas State to the Sun Belt Tournament for the first time since 2021.

The improvement has come through roster reconstruction, stronger pitching, increased offensive production and a willingness to recruit players from high schools, junior colleges and four-year programs throughout the country.

It has also been accompanied by upgrades at Tomlinson Stadium-Slayton Family Field and plans for a 40,000-square-foot Player Development Center that could change how Arkansas State recruits and develops players.
