Arkansas State coach Butch Jones saw enough positives in the Red Wolves’ season-opening loss at Memphis to believe his team has plenty to build on.
He also saw enough mistakes to know Arkansas State can’t afford to repeat them Saturday.
The Red Wolves will make their 2026 home debut when they host West Georgia at 6 p.m. Saturday inside Centennial Bank Stadium. Arkansas State enters the game 0-1 after falling 42-24 at Memphis, a game Jones believes provided an early lesson for a team still developing its identity.
“A lot of things to build upon, a lot of things that I thought were extremely encouraging, but also a lot of things we need to improve on in a hurry,” Jones said. “I thought it was a physical football game. I liked our players’ mental disposition.”
