Arkansas State coach Butch Jones credited his team’s preparation and resilience for Saturday’s 23-13 victory over Southern Miss but said the Red Wolves must improve offensively as they prepare for a Sun Belt Conference matchup against Georgia State.
Arkansas State (3-4, 1-2 Sun Belt) earned its first road victory of the season by forcing two turnovers, stopping Southern Miss on three fourth-down attempts and controlling the football for more than 40 minutes.
Jones said the performance reflected the team’s preparation leading up to the game.
“Anytime you can go on the road and win in our conference, it’s a good road win,” Jones said. “It wasn’t perfect in any way. A lot of things that we need to continue to improve upon and get better.”
