Harmon’s Career Night Sparks Red Wolves’ 103-Point Explosion Against ULM
On a night when the shots kept falling and the pace never slowed, junior guard Christian Harmon delivered the kind of performance that turns a conference game into a statement.
Harmon drained a career-high seven three-pointers Wednesday night, powering Arkansas State to a 103-70 rout of ULM inside First National Bank Arena. The win improved the Red Wolves to 16-10 overall and 7-6 in Sun Belt Conference play.
It was a historic offensive showing for Arkansas State. The Red Wolves topped the 100-point mark against the Warhawks for the first time in series history, and it marked the first time either team had eclipsed 100 in the matchup since 1955.
Harmon led the way with 21 points, connecting on 7-of-12 shots from beyond the arc. His seven triples were the most by a Red Wolf in a single game since Grantham Gillard knocked down seven against ULM in March 2019.
But the scoring barrage didn’t stop there.
Chandler Jackson added 14 points and six assists, while Matt Hayman scored 13. Aly Tounkara chipped in 12, and Joey Chammaa rounded out five Red Wolves in double figures with 10. Chudi Dioramma controlled the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds.
As a team, Arkansas State shot a blistering 54.7 percent from the field (41-of-75) and 40.6 percent from three-point range (13-of-32). The Red Wolves also dominated in nearly every statistical category, holding decisive advantages in points in the paint (56-22), points off turnovers (17-6), second-chance points (22-10), fast-break points (17-6) and bench scoring (37-9).
The Red Wolves wasted no time setting the tone, scoring on their first five possessions to build a 15-10 lead. After ULM briefly tied the game at 22-22 following a 10-2 run, Arkansas State responded with composure and firepower.
Chammaa halted the Warhawks’ momentum with a basket that ignited a 6-0 run. Hayman later bookended a 10-0 surge with a pair of three-pointers, pushing the Red Wolves into double digits for the first time.
Though ULM trimmed the halftime margin to 49-37 after a late three-point flurry, Arkansas State quickly reasserted control in the second half.
Harmon opened the period with two more triples, and Jalen Hampton added another during a 10-3 run. Tounkara followed with a layup and dunk on consecutive possessions, stretching the lead to 63-42 with just over 16 minutes remaining.
From there, the offensive avalanche continued.
Jackson fueled another 6-0 burst with a driving layup, and the lead surpassed 30 points when Chammaa knocked down two free throws with under five minutes to play. Royal Blue Smith later buried a three-pointer to push the Red Wolves past 90, and Arkansas State cruised through the final minutes to reach the century mark.
The victory marked A-State’s second straight win by 30 or more points and showcased an offense hitting its stride at the right time in conference play.
Arkansas State returns to First National Bank Arena on Saturday, Feb. 14, to host South Alabama. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m., with the game streaming on ESPN+.
