Cobb, Barnes to Represent Arkansas State at Sun Belt Football Media Days
Arkansas State will be represented by two of its top returning players when the Sun Belt Conference holds its annual Football Media Days July 15-16 in New Orleans.
Head coach Butch Jones will be joined by wide receiver and return specialist Chauncy Cobb and safety Brandon Barnes as the Red Wolves’ representatives for the conference’s annual preseason event. Arkansas State, along with the rest of the Sun Belt’s West Division programs, will take the stage Thursday, July 16, at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District. The event will be televised on ESPN+.
Cobb enters the 2026 season as one of the conference’s most accomplished playmakers. The redshirt junior from Clewiston, Florida, earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors as a return specialist and third-team all-conference recognition as an all-purpose player following the 2025 season. His explosive ability as both a receiver and return man has made him one of the league’s most dynamic offensive threats, and he is expected to play a major role in Arkansas State’s offense this fall.
Barnes, a junior safety from Dallas, Texas, returns as one of the leaders of the Red Wolves’ secondary after emerging as a key contributor on defense. His experience and production make him one of the veteran voices on a defense expected to take another step forward in 2026.
Jones enters his sixth season leading the Red Wolves. Arkansas State opens the 2026 campaign Sept. 5 at Memphis before hosting West Georgia in its home opener Sept. 12.
