One game into the season, there is plenty Arkansas State needs to correct.
There is also plenty to like.
The Red Wolves’ 42-24 loss at Memphis exposed some of the growing pains that come with assembling a roster filled with new faces in the transfer portal era. There were turnovers, missed assignments and communication breakdowns that Arkansas State coach Butch Jones acknowledged afterward must be corrected.
But underneath those mistakes was something else — a football team with enough talent to become a serious factor in the Sun Belt Conference once all the pieces begin working together.
