Despite a 28-point performance from Crislyn Rose, Arkansas State was unable to overcome Ball State on Monday night, falling 84-74 in the women’s basketball season opener at Worthen Arena.

The Red Wolves (0-1) battled throughout the contest but struggled to keep pace with the Cardinals (1-0), who used their advantage on the boards and at the free-throw line to secure the victory.

Rose led Arkansas State with 28 points, including 10 from the free-throw line, while adding seven assists in 33 minutes. Monica Marsh contributed 15 points, connecting on three 3-pointers.
