After eight consecutive weeks of football, Arkansas State head coach Butch Jones believes a much-needed bye week gave his Red Wolves an opportunity to recover physically and mentally as they prepare to host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night at Centennial Bank Stadium.
Arkansas State enters the Sun Belt Conference matchup riding a two-game winning streak following victories over Southern Miss and Georgia State. Jones said the challenge now is maintaining the momentum his team established before the break while returning to the intensity and preparation necessary to compete in a tightly contested conference.
“I think the key to the drill for us is getting back to the mental effort, the mental intensity that it takes, your preparation,” Jones said. “We’re playing a really good football team. Very physical, always well-coached, and they’re a line of scrimmage. I think they’re really good in the offensive and defensive lines.”
