Arkansas State Baseball Lands Two Preseason All-Sun Belt Honors
Arkansas State baseball picked up a pair of preseason all-conference honors heading into the 2026 season, as the Sun Belt Conference released its preseason awards and coaches poll on Wednesday.
Senior shortstop Patrick Engskov and redshirt sophomore outfielder Ashton Quiller were both named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, giving the Red Wolves two representatives on the league’s top preseason list. The selections mark Arkansas State’s first preseason all-conference nominations since Jack Jumper in 2020.
Quiller made an immediate impact in his debut season in 2025, leading the Red Wolves in batting with 61 hits. The Lake Charles, Louisiana native also stole 13 bases and finished second on the team in runs scored, establishing himself as one of the conference’s emerging offensive threats.
Engskov, a Little Rock native, started all 53 games last season and posted a strong offensive line of .294/.366/.493. He led Arkansas State in slugging percentage and ranked second in batting average. Engskov tied for second on the team with 59 hits, drove in 35 runs, and finished the year with 13 doubles and nine home runs, anchoring the Red Wolves’ infield both offensively and defensively.
In the preseason coaches poll, Arkansas State was selected ninth with 96 points. The Red Wolves are coming off a seventh-place finish in the Sun Belt standings in 2025, compiling a 14–16 conference record.
Coastal Carolina was picked to win the league after earning 12 first-place votes and 194 points, followed by Southern Miss and Troy. Coastal Carolina’s Cameron Flukey was named Preseason Pitcher of the Year, while Troy first baseman Blake Cavill earned Preseason Player of the Year honors.
