A-State’s Clune Van Andel Named Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week
Arkansas State junior kicker Clune Van Andel has been named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, following a standout performance in the Red Wolves’ 34-24 victory over Georgia Southern.
The Grand Rapids, Michigan, native accounted for 10 total points, going a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra point attempts. Van Andel connected from 24 and 27 yards, helping A-State secure a key conference win at Centennial Bank Stadium.
Saturday’s performance marked Van Andel’s 10th career game — and fourth of the 2025 season — with multiple field goals made, bringing his career total to 33. His consistency and accuracy continue to make him one of the most reliable specialists in the Sun Belt.
The honor marks another milestone in what has been a steady, productive career for Van Andel, who has become a vital weapon in A-State’s special teams unit under head coach Butch Jones.
The Red Wolves (now 5-2 overall, 3-1 Sun Belt) will return to action next weekend as they travel to face the Troy Trojans.
