A-State Baseball Notebook: Red Wolves Building Experienced, Versatile Class for 2027
Arkansas State’s 2027 baseball recruiting class is beginning to take shape around a combination of experienced college transfers, junior college production and high school players with positional versatility.
As of mid-June, the Red Wolves’ incoming group included seven known signees or commitments: Austin Haley, Mason Sayre, Tyler Herb, Marcus Lawler, Harrison Engskov, Clayton Kline and Keaton Mathis.
The class remains subject to change as Arkansas State continues working through the transfer portal and evaluating the needs of its 2027 roster. Additional departures, commitments or professional opportunities could alter the final group before fall practice begins.
What is already clear is that coach Mike Silva and his staff have emphasized players who can fill multiple roles.
The class includes switch hitters, middle infielders, utility players, a catcher with pitching experience and a former junior college All-American capable of contributing both at the plate and on the mound.
Arkansas State has also blended youth with experience. Mathis, Kline and Lawler will arrive from the high school level, while Haley, Sayre, Herb and Engskov have already competed in college baseball.
That approach gives the Red Wolves developmental prospects for the future while adding players who could challenge for immediate roles.
Here is a closer look at the class and what each addition could bring to Arkansas State.
